Hello! My name is Heather. I recently took Lilly on a trip to Oahu, Hawaii with three of my friends. On our journey we visited many interesting places. One of the most beautiful buildings we saw was the Mormon temple in Laie. The sun was shining through the clouds onto the building and the lush green grounds. I live in the desert in Arizona, USA so it was nice to see so much greenery. We stopped at Sunset Beach on the North Shore of Hawaii to watch a professional surfing competition. We were lucky to actually see the competition since several days of the competition were canceled because the waves were too big and dangerous for the surfers. We had a wonderful time laying on the beach and soaking in the sites and sounds of the fun filled event. We also went to a real luau and ate some kalua pig. Kalua is a method of cooking in an underground oven so they literally bury an entire pig in the ground and surround it with coals and it cooks for many hours. They just unburied this pig when we got there and served it up on a platter for us. Check out the picture I've attached! Finally, we made it to the historical site at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is the site where many members of the US Navy lost their lives in a surprise attack on December 7, 1941. The sunken ships serve as large tombs since the soldiers who went down are still down entombed in them. It was a sobering experience to hear the story retold. We had a great trip and hope you enjoy the pictures I have attached. Thanks for letting Lilly come along with us. Enjoy!Heather ThomasPhoenix, Arizona USA
